A short-story based on a real life couple I photographed whose love and chemistry was so strong, you can feel it in their photographs.

Like most photographers, one day I had a crazy creative vision. I so badly wanted to photograph a couple, but in the water. I did what any other sane person would do, and I posted on Facebook in search of a young hot couple that would be willing to get in!

It was actually harder than it seems to find a couple I knew could handle the poses I had in my mind, and also be okay with me using sexy photos for advertisement. But, when Jaycee commented on my post saying her and her husband Payden’s 8th wedding anniversary was coming up & they would love to volunteer; I instantly knew they were the perfect couple.

This was a real love story.

I will never forget when I was taking these photos the amount of chemistry between these two. While we were together Jaycee and Payden were giggling, joking around, whispering, kissing, holding eye contact with one another, and holding each other. I absolutely love it when a couple feels free to move around as they please, instead of holding a “pose” I directed them into.

The chemistry was insane.

I’ve never been around a couple with SO much chemistry. In our society we have grown up hearing how much marriage ruins a couple; but they were 8 years into marriage (at the time I am writing this blog it’s 9) and I could feel the sparks flying!!

If reading this blog inspires you, but you are worried if love and chemistry will be felt when you see your own photos…I have some advice for you:
  • I am here to direct you. Don’t be afraid to randomly make out, or whisper a dirty joke into your spouse’s ear. If you want your photoshoot to be more silly than sexy, then chase your partner down and I will be your third-wheel documenting it. I’m here to help, but I also want to represent your relationship the way you are in real life. But no matter what, I will be directing you and guiding you to make sure we get the perfect shots;
  • Look up couple’s photoshoots on Pinterest to find inspiration and prepare yourself. You can search through my Pinterest boards, or look up other photographers;
  • Talk to your partner before hand on what to expect. If your husband has no idea that he has freedom to be his goofy self, then he might expect this to be an old fashioned photo session where I pose you both and theres no freedom of expression; and last but not least…
  • Trust me as your photographer, you are in great hands.
